Introduce Yourself To God
Matthew 5:6: “… when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”
For someone who does not have a personal relationship with God, prayer is a conversation with God to express thoughts, feelings, and desires honestly. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” This verse reminds us that when we sincerely seek God, He will reveal Himself.
Talk With God About The Big Questions
- Why do I exist?
- Why is there a universe?
- What happens when I die?
What Is Prayer?
Prayer is a simple and informal act that fosters a relationship with God and finds solace in knowing He is always there, listening to your every word and thought. You do not need to use words.
Language gets in the way. Be alone with God. Only God needs to know your deeply personal thoughts when communicating with Him.
One role of the Holy Spirit is to transfer your thoughts to God without personal problems in word selection, grammar, etc. Relax. He sees your heart.
The Holy Spirit can give you insight, comfort, and assurance when you pray. He can also help you better understand God’s Word and deepen your relationship. So, when you pray, invite the Holy Spirit to work in your heart and mind, leading you in prayer and helping you draw closer to God.
Pray confidently, knowing that God the Father listens attentively to your prayers and responds with grace and love.
Romans 8:26 says, “…the Holy Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness and intercedes for us, guiding our prayers according to God’s will.
While communicating with God about the big questions
- Seek guidance.
- Find peace in His presence.
- Pray sincerely from your heart.
- Thank God for being there with you.
Now Focus On Others
Prayer will inspire you to show love and kindness to others, make positive changes in your life, or even take steps toward achieving your goals.
When you decide or seek clarity on a matter, it’s essential to surrender your thoughts and desires to God, asking Him for wisdom and guidance. You will better understand what God calls you to do through prayer and reflection. Trust in God’s plan for you, seek His direction earnestly and be open to the signs He may place in your path as you discern His will.
Jesus In Prayer
Jesus plays a central role in prayer as our mediator with God. 1 Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and us, the man Christ Jesus,” Through His sacrifice on the cross, Jesus opened the way for us to have a direct relationship with God through prayer.
When you pray in Jesus’ name, you acknowledge His authority and rely on His righteousness to approach God. He understands our struggles and intercedes for us before the Father.
Remember that Jesus stands by your side when you pray, advocating for you and helping you connect with God meaningfully. Jesus lived on Earth and has experience as a human.
